Drop the prefixes
Change the action, then give your fields their real names back.
Forminit requires a naming convention on every input, so a field isfi-sender-email rather thanemail. That convention is the real cost of being on it, and shedding it is the only work in this migration. FormRoute reads whatever names your form already uses. Export your submissions to CSV before you switch the action over.

Is Getform the same thing as Forminit?+
Yes. Getform was renamed Forminit on 14 January 2026. It was a rebrand, not an acquisition: same independent team, operating since 2015. Old getform.io URLs redirect to forminit.com and existing getform.io form endpoints still accept submissions, so nothing broke for current users.
What does Forminit do better?+
Several real things. Typed field blocks mean every export, webhook and integration receives the same payload shape, which most form backends do not guarantee. File uploads are included on their free tier and not on ours. Their webhooks are unusually well built, with signing, replay protection, idempotency and failure alerts. And their workspaces have a proper four-role permission matrix, which is genuinely useful for agencies.
What happens when I hit the submission limit?+
This is the difference worth understanding. On Forminit, forms are paused at the cap and stop collecting until you upgrade, so submissions during that window are lost rather than delayed. On FormRoute, submissions over the limit are queued and processed the next month, or you can upgrade mid-cycle.
Their validation is automatic. Is yours worse?+
It is different. Forminit validates by field type: name a field as an email block and it is checked as an email, with no configuration at all, which is genuinely elegant. FormRoute has you declare rules, which is a little more work and covers things a type cannot express, like minimum length, conditional requirements, or a national ID format.
